Call to Worship
I would like to invite you to hear a Word from the Lord this morning as we prepare our hearts to worship him…

This is a Psalm of praise that shows the great delight of those who would make the pilgrimage to Jerusalem to worship in the temple.
Psalm 84:1-4
How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord of host!
My soul longs, yes, faints,
            For the courts of the Lord;
My heart and flesh sing for joy
            To the living God.
Even the sparrow finds a home,
            And the swallow a nest for herself,
Where she may lay her young,
At your altars, O Lord of hosts,
            My King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in your house,
            Ever singing your praise!

Everyone please stand for prayer to Begin our worship serivice

Prayer of Confession

Heavenly Father, We want to praise you this morning for your grace.  For pouring it out on this world and specifically into our lives.  For the opportunity to assemble together this morning in your house, on your day, to worship your holy name.  Thank you for sending your Son into this world to pay the penalty for our sin.  He was undeserving of the punishment and we are undeserving of the great gift of salvation that he purchased and has given to us.  We ask that you would forgive us of our sins, and renew a right spirit within us that our worship may be acceptable in your sight.  Fill us with a peace that passes understanding and a joy that overflows in praise by the work of the Holy Spirit.  We ask these things in Jesus’ name, amen.

Congregational Reading

Let us read the Word of the Lord together…

Luke 2:8-14
And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. 10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

Song 1: Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

Song 2: Angels We Have Heard on High

Intro to: O Holy Night

One night the angel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary and said,

The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called HOLY—the Son of God.

“Let all that is within us praise His holy name!  Christ is the Lord!”

Song 3: O Holy Night

Intro to: O Come All Ye Faithful

As the shepherds heard from the angels about the birth of the Christ child they immediately went and saw him and they glorified and praised God for what they had seen and heard.

Come, all ye faithful, and join the angels and the shepherds in the adoration your Savior…

Song 4: O Come All Ye Faithful

Prayer of Thanksgiving and Praise Before the offering

Psalm 84:8-12
O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer;
            Give ear, O God of Jacob!
Behold our shield, O God;
            Look on the face of your anointed!
For a day in your courts is better
            Than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
            Then dwell in the tents of wickedness.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
            The Lord bestows favor and honor.
No good thing does he withhold
            From those who walk uprightly.
O Lord of hosts,
            Blessed is the one who trusts in you!

Heavenly Father, you are worthy to praised with our every thought and deed.  May the song of our heart truly reflect that of the Psalmist.  Lord, may our every desire be brought into conformity with your will.  Lord you are our light and shield.  A day in your courts is better than ten thousand elsewhere.  We know that since you did not withhold your only Son you will not withhold any good thing from those who love you and walk uprightly.  Lord produce within us a desire to give and a joy in giving that only you can give.  We thank you for what you have done and what you are going to do.  In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Song 5: O Great God

Intro to: The wonderful Cross
When we survey the wondrous cross we see, from his head, his hands, his feet, sorrow and love flow mingled down.  Did e’er such love and sorrow meet or thorns compose so rich a crown.
God forbid that we should boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ
